Send files from your phone to your computer, no cable
You don’t need a cable, a cloud account or an app on your phone. If both devices are on the same Wi‑Fi, a QR code is enough. You can try it right now in your browser.
Step by step
Open the free transfer on your computer
Go to makemacbetter.com/en/transfer and press “Start free transfer”. Your computer’s browser shows a QR code. Works on Mac and on PC.
Scan the QR with your phone
Use the camera on your iPhone or Android. A page opens in the phone’s browser; nothing to install.
Check the code and approve
Both screens show the same 8 characters. If they match, press Approve on the computer: that guarantees nobody else is in the middle.
Pick photos or files and send
They travel directly and encrypted over your Wi‑Fi and are checked with SHA‑256. Save them from the list on your computer.
Is it really free?
One transfer per connection every 7 days is free: up to 10 files and 200 MB. To send without limits, straight into a folder on your Mac, use Make Mac Better.
Do my files go through a server?
No. The server only pairs the two devices. Photos go from your phone to your computer through your local network, end-to-end encrypted.
What if it doesn’t connect?
Both devices must be on the same Wi‑Fi. Guest or office networks sometimes block devices from seeing each other; try your home network or your phone’s hotspot.
