Transfer

From phone to Mac, no cables.

Scan a QR code with your phone camera, check the code and pick photos or videos. They arrive straight on your Mac over your Wi‑Fi, end-to-end encrypted.

How it works

Interactive simulation

Simulation of the flow. In the real app files travel over your local network.

Phone

Open the camera

The pairing server…

Seesthat two devices want to connect and technical details to find each other on the network.

Never seesyour photos, videos, file names or the QR key. It stores nothing.

How it works

Three steps. That’s it.

  1. 1

    Create the QR

In Make Mac Better → Transfer.

  2. 2

    Scan it

A page opens on the phone, nothing to install. Compare the code.

  3. 3

    Send

Files arrive on the Mac and are checked one by one.

Transfer

Made for your everyday.

Do they go through a server?

No. Make Mac Better’s server only introduces the two devices (like passing on a phone number): it exchanges technical connection details, never the files. Then phone and Mac talk directly over your Wi‑Fi through an encrypted channel (WebRTC/DTLS). We use no relay servers: if both are not on the same network, the transfer fails instead of being routed over the internet.

What if someone intercepts the pairing?

The QR carries the Mac’s fingerprint and a secret key that are never sent to the server (they live in the part of the link browsers do not transmit). The phone rejects any Mac with another fingerprint and the Mac rejects any phone without the key. You also approve the pairing on screen.

Intact

Each file is checked with SHA‑256 on arrival and saved with its name in Downloads in one click.
